Small Town to Big Dreams 🪞

As I reflect on my journey, I can’t help but marvel at how far I’ve come. I moved from New York to Asheboro, NC, as a young girl, navigating the challenges of fitting in while finding a creative outlet in the most unexpected place—candle making. By high school, I was already experimenting with clean-burning, long-lasting candles, never imagining it would become such a central part of my life. The Sagittarius in me took the risk of venturing out of the home and investing in my business at the age of 17 in 2001.
Yet, I couldn't neglect doing what I felt I was supposed to do and that's to continue my educational journey, studying part time at Randolph Community College, where I earned an Associate in Arts degree, which later took me to UNCG to study Biochemistry. But in 2007, life called me in another direction when I had my first son. I made the decision to put my studies on pause to focus on him, my growing business, and creating a life that allowed me to be present for my family.

Since 2012, homeschooling my children has been one of my proudest accomplishments. It’s given me the chance to be present in their life in a way that is very meaningful to me and Sincerely Candle Company was the catalyst for this. The birth of my second son in 2015 sparked a renewed drive in me to elevate the business, secure my first property, and invest in both my family and my professional growth. Â

Over the years, this entrepreneurial journey has evolved in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Each year brought its own lessons: Â
- 2019 was about rebirth and revival-a commitment to building something to last.
- 2020 was a time of innovation and adapting to new markets. Â
- 2021 focused on hiring, training, and collaboration. Â
- 2022 was all about e-commerce innovation. Â
- And 2023? Highest income to date, yet brought weaknesses to light...

While 2023 saw 33% income growth early on, it turned into a season of realization. We urgently needed new systems to support growth. This has been the story for much 2024. I have aligned the big vision with my personal values, studied the history of the business, and deepened my relationship with finances.
Building a strong foundation requires energy, time, and patience.🌹Much like breathing, every inhale leads to an exhale, every expansion leads to a contraction, every night leads to a new day, and I know the next phase will be worth the work when we see financial expansion again. 🌹

Meanwhile, I took another leap that some of you know about by diving deeper into my studies. Instead of returning to UNCG, I chose to study Aromatherapy at the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, OR. This decision has been transformative, enhancing not only my skills as a candlemaker but also my ability to serve others in new ways. I’m on track to graduate as an Aromatherapist in January 2026, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the oils we are blessed with and this knowledge on how to use them.Â

This year, I’ve made it a priority to consistently giving back—whether by being a beacon of light for children in my community, offering guidance to fellow entrepreneurs laying the groundwork for their dreams, or offering funds to disaster relief efforts in Western NC. Supporting others IS WHAT REALLY makes my work meaningful, fuels my passion, and reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.Â

As I look ahead, I feel an overwhelming sense of dedication and excitement. Sincerely Candle Company has been my life’s work, and I’m thrilled to see how the next chapter unfolds. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Together, we’re building something truly special. Â
