My Sincerely Candle Story

I’ve had a deep appreciation for candles since I was a kid. There’s something special about the soothing and relaxing feeling I get when I burn them. Each time I light a candle, I’m reminded of the internal flame of peace that is always accessible through reverence. Some of my earliest memories include lighting candles at church every Sunday, a practice that shaped my connection to their calming glow. As an adult, candles have become an essential part of my life—present in the moments I cherish, the practices I honor, and the celebrations I treasure.

In 2001, my curiosity and some hand-me-down equipment led me to experiment with making candles. My mother’s kitchen became my laboratory, and the ancient art of candle making quickly turned into a beloved hobby. I was fascinated by the endless possibilities, trying different techniques and types of candles. My family became my first critics and champions, offering words of encouragement and helpful feedback. My sister even shared my candles with coworkers, sparking the first sales that laid the foundation for my business.

For many years, I ran my candle-making venture as a hobby, learning through trial and error and embracing each mistake as an opportunity to grow. I created my first collection, The Dixie Lane Signature Collection, inspired by my experience as a New York transplant finding love for Southern culture. Each scent in the collection is a tribute to my childhood memories and the charm of The South.

Pop-up markets have always been one of my favorite aspects of this journey. These markets allowed me to connect with customers face-to-face, sharing the stories behind my candles and experiencing their joy firsthand. There were also times I pursued a more ambitious approach, running two different small candle shops in Downtown Asheboro.

In 2019, I officially launched Sincerely Candles & Company, LLC, committing fully to my vision. What started as a hobby has grown into a thriving regional candle company with a small but dedicated team. Today, we offer a diverse range of products and services, including our core collections, holistic apothecaries, gemstones, and even experiences. Most recently, we’ve introduced a private label service, allowing us to collaborate with other businesses to create custom candles that align with their unique brands.

At Sincerely Candle Co, everything we create is rooted in my original mission: to make high-quality, handmade products that help people make moments matter. I check in frequently with this purpose, ensuring the busyness of business never strays me from my core values.

This commitment extends to the way we give back. In 2024, we’re proud to dedicate 10% of sales to Western North Carolina flood relief, supporting the resilience and recovery of communities in need.
